PANA Joins Asia Pacific APPIES

appiesUnited with Asia Pacific’s big names, the Philippine Association of National Advertisers (PANA) joins the APPIES as a member of the Regional Committee.  Upon the invitation of the Institute of Advertising Singapore (IAS), the country’s foremost advertising and marketing communications association takes the opportunity to participate to continue building strategic partnerships with local and international industry groups.

The APPIES is a two-day annual event dubbed as ‘the TED of marketing’.  In just three years, it is a vibrant activity of some of the best marketing learnings in the region.  This year’s event titled ‘See the story behind Asia’s most successful brands’ is a collection of about a hundred cases from 16 Asian markets.  These cases will be presented live for judging.

“PANA believes that our organization should always strive to become better and more relevant to its members. One of PANA’s thrusts is to continuously elevate our organization’s capabilities in the promotion of excellence in marketing communications,” shares Blen Fernando, PANA president and VP for Marketing of Alaska Milk Corporation.

“APPIES is THE event attended more by marketers, a truly relevant platform for busy brand owners looking for real life inspiration around the region, as well as to network with their peers across all categories – 91% of marketers rated it so, and 85% will attend APPIES again in 2013,” states Goh Shu Fen, APPIES Chairman 2013.

Last year, Jaideep Kibe, Coca-Cola Sparkling Category Director, The Cola-Cola Export Corporation, Philippines won the Gold Medal for the OFW Project Campaign, as well as the Best Presenter award.

According to Kibe, APPIES 2012 has been an extremely pleasant experience due to the diversity of thinking, of ideas and the ways they are brought to life. For me, the APPIES is all about connections – not only to the campaigns that speak to you but also meeting up with peers from across the region. I loved seeing all the liquid and linked ideas that were presented over the two days and it was eye-opening to see how multiple platforms were used effectively.”

This year, the APPIES will be held on August 15 and 16 at the National University of Singapore, Guild House.  One hundred marketing cases for competition will be from Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore.  Only ten APPIES Gold medals are to be won.

“The APPIES is not just a competition for creative work but for overall marketing effectiveness and it presents opportunities for learning across cultures, a sharing of marketing experiences and values. We want to build a mindset that looks at the global environment while contributing to the Philippine setting,” Fernando adds.
