Last February 23. PANA held its 2nd General Membership Meeting at the Hard Rock Cafe3/F Glorietta 3, Makati City. Conducted every last Thursday of the month, PANA GMMs are interactive forums where industry experts are invited to share relevant information to our PANA members.

For the February 2012 GMM, Executive Planning Director of JWT Manila Ms. Pam Garcia and Reaserch Director of the Institute for Development and Economic Analysis, Inc. (IDEA) Prof. Jackson Ubias discussed Consumer Trends and PANA’s Annual Economic Forecast respectively.

Ms. Pam Garcia presented JWT’s Top 10 Trends for 2012. The study has both global and local context that show emerging twists in consumer behavior. Some of the said trends include: the rise of shared value, celebrating aging and screened interactions. According to Garcia, these trends make way for new interactions with consumers and opportunities that brands may explore this year.

The Philippine economy is said to improve moderately for 2012. This year’s forecast as shared by Prof. Jackson Ubias has “bright spots” amidst dark times of global uncertainties. OFW remittances, recovery in exports, and the government taking an active role in pushing economic growth are what we can look forward to. Ubias reassures that the capability of our marketing and advertising practitioners to adapt with tough financial situations would be helpful to consumers and the economy.
