Nestlé Philippines, Inc. announces the appointment of Paolo Mercado as Senior Vice President and Director of Communication & Marketing Services effective April 2015.
Paolo returns to the Philippines with years of extensive international marketing experience.
Before his return, he was Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing & Consumer Communication for the Nestlé Greater China region. During his three and a half years in China, Paolo established Nestlé as one of the country’s leading FMCG companies in digital and social media marketing, sharpening the Company’s internal capabilities in digital listening and engagement.
Prior to his assignment in China, Paolo was the Global Communication Manager for Nestlé’s Dairy brands, based in Vevey, Switzerland. In this role, his was responsible for the global communication strategies for well known Nestlé dairy brands such as NIDO, BEAR BRAND, COFFEEMATE and NESVITA, covering the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
Before joining Nestlé in 2008, Paolo was affiliated for many years with the Publicis agency group. He spent four years in the Publicis Head office in Paris as Deputy Worldwide Account Director for Nestlé. He also helped establish Publicis Manila in 2003, together with the late Minyong Ordonez.
Paolo has been a close partner of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P). He taught part-time in the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) Program from 1995 to 2000 and was involved in the early foundation of the Asia-Pacific Tambuli Awards, which recognizes both brand effectiveness and the promotion of societal values, prior to its launch in 2005.
Paolo graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in Psychology and has graduate level studies in Social Psychology. He is currently enrolled in the Berlin School of Creative Leadership Executive MBA Program.
