Globe Telecom has officially joined the Candle Cable System consortium, a major regional initiative aimed at strengthening digital connectivity across Asia.

The consortium—led by Meta, SoftBank Corp., IPS Inc., Telekom Malaysia (TM), PT XLSmart Telecom Sejahtera Tbk, and NEC Corporation—is developing an approximately 8,000-kilometer submarine cable system that will link key markets including Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Expected to be operational by 2028, the Candle Cable System is designed to deliver up to 570 terabits per second of capacity, positioning it among the highest-capacity subsea networks in the region and significantly enhancing data infrastructure to support Asia’s rapidly growing digital economy.
