The 8th PANA General Membership Meeting was held last August 30, 2012 at Hard Rock Cafe. “Business@Social” enlightened representatives of PANA- member companies on the following: 1) the use of social experiences for consumer connection, and 2) an outlook of the Philippine economy.

Bruce Oltchick, Managing Director and Technical Adviser of Universal McCann Philippines, presented a digital study, Wave, which focuses on social media. “What I hope to accomplish today is not to teach people about digital but maybe just to seed a couple of new ideas about what’s going on on the cutting edge of digital.”

One of the findings mentioned is that Filipinos’ online activity is decreasing in every area except for social media. “The insight there is that social media has incorporated all of the other aspects of the internet,” shared Olthchick.

“Things will be better next year. Although a marginal pick-up, it’s still a pick-up,” said VP for Investment Banking of CLSA, Paolo Azurin. He tackled an economic forecast of the second semester of 2012, and 2013.

When asked about what he thinks ails the Philippine economy, Azurin responded with lack of infrastructure in terms of internet, roads and schools.

PANA GMMs are interactive forums where industry experts are invited to share information to PANA members on timely and relevant topics; done every last Thursday of the month at the Hard Rock Café, 3/F Glorietta 3, Makati City.
